My shoes are barely dry from Hardrock and I find myself prepping for the Grand Mesa 100 in 8 days, which ain't no walk in the park either. Once that's completed, then full focus on Leadville 100 (meeting with my Leadville crew team this weekend) and Bear 100.
I have no idea what to expect at Grand Mesa but I do have goals for the others; I definitely better run both Leadville and Bear combined faster than I completed Hardrock (shouldn't be too difficult since I took nearly a week to finish). If I still have any body parts left, I'd like to race one more 100 (Chimera 100 in November) to reach my pre-season goal of six 100 milers this year. Combine that with my other shorter races and we're talking over 800 miles of racing in a season (just writing it makes me want to rethink that plan). It would be a testament to both smart training and McDavid compression clothing, which has truly helped to minimize muscle damage during events and facilitate recovery after. I have just a little soreness in my left hip/upper glute but it feels better daily. I'm guessing that may be from using only one trekking pole for a while after the first one broke and it may have caused a little imbalance. I took sun-wed off, only doing my 3 mile walks and plan to go for a run today.
